“Gaio” and “Coffee and Vinyls” are the newly renovated F&B outlets at the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort. Gaio is where Italian comfort food meets feel-good creativity, and Coffee and Vinyls celebrate Costa Rica’s coffee culture paired with a unique musical experience.

As the heart of the hotel, Gaio is an open-air restaurant that connects directly to nature through the abundant natural light that fills the space, making it feel bright and airy during breakfast and lunch. As dusk arrives, our static 2200K lighting takes over, smoothly transitioning into the night to create a warm, intimate, and relaxing atmosphere that contrasts with the day, offering guests a new experience for each meal.

Coffee and Vinyls serves as a morning retreat for specialty coffee and artisanal pastries, changing into an evening destination for cocktails, wine, and Italian-inspired bites. Much like Gaio, our lighting design orchestrates this evolution, but in contrast this is an enclosed, air-conditioned space that called for a different approach. Here we used warm-dimming lighting to match the energetic natural light in Gaio during the day, shifting into a calming, warmer vibe in the evening, ensuring the atmosphere perfectly matches the mood.
