THE NORM at THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM
The Norm is the in-house restaurant for the Brooklyn Art Museum. A double-sided display case separates the restaurant from the museum with the ability to continuously change out the art pieces.
We chose to light the pieces using a linear grazer from a cove within the case. This method avoided any glare on the glass of the case as well as respected that some artwork will be damaged under too strong direct light.
On the opposing wall, the design team used the artwork shipping containers to create a collage. We chose to intermittently light a few of the boxes on the wall using clamp lights to give a feeling of a curated space.
